Why you should switch
Rentman 4G is the newest version of Rentman, and comes with a modern and more flexible user interface. Rentman 4G includes new and important modules such as the Crew planner and Warehouse, and has many new functionalities that will save you a lot of time. Working in Rentman has also been made easier by allowing you to switch between different tabs, and having much less pop-up screens. Additionally, Rentman 3 is not being updated anymore, and chances are that some of your requested functionalities were implemented in Rentman 4G.
Why we created Rentman 4G
Because the current technical framework behind Rentman 3 is outdated, we had to build Rentman 4G from the ground up. We took the opportunity to rethink basic functionalities such as planning your crew and transport, and booking your equipment in and out. Rentman 4G operates on a modern and future-proof framework, designed to replace Rentman 3 sometime in the future.
Copy your database to Rentman 4G
You can start testing Rentman 4G after you've copied your current Rentman 3 database to Rentman 4G. This way, you can try Rentman 4G with your own data such as projects, equipment, contacts, tasks, user roles, appointments, and personal settings.
You also need to make one final copy of your Rentman 3 database, before you definitively switch to Rentman 4G. We recommend making your final copy the day before you switch, so you can start working in Rentman 4G the next day.
Your Rentman 3 and Rentman 4G databases are not connected (or synchronized), and exist separately. This means that changes in Rentman 4G will not affect your Rentman 3 database or the other way around.
Why you need to prepare
Most of our customers experience a smooth switching process. Even though this applies to most, we recommend that you don't underestimate the process and take your time to prepare. To prevent start-up problems, we advise the following:
- Make sure you know how Rentman 4G works. During your testing period, you can try out all new functionalities for yourself.
- Make sure you know what functionalities currently aren’t present in Rentman 4G. If Rentman 4G doesn’t have a functionality that you used in Rentman 3, you can try out alternative ways of working.
- Your custom Rentman 3 templates will probably not function correctly anymore in Rentman 4G. We recommend that you remake your custom templates in Rentman 4G.
- Read our updated subscription packages for Rentman 4G. The pricing levels are similar to Rentman 3, and consist of more flexible pricing options for different business needs.

What is Rentman 4G?
Rentman 4G is the newest version of our rental software, which was built from the ground up. It has a more modern and user-friendly interface and a many new functionalities.
What has changed in Rentman 4G?
Rentman 4G has a completely new interface, which allows you to work faster while maintaining a clear overview. A lot of new functionalities have been added to give you more flexibility and possibilities. A few notable changes are a completely new module for warehouse management, a visual crew and transport planning, extra possibilities to create custom overviews, and subprojects.
Will my account be automatically transferred to Rentman 4G?
No. Rentman 4G is a completely new system with a different interface and functionalities. Therefore, we ask all Rentman 3 users to test Rentman 4G first, and get accustomed to the software before switching. When you are comfortable with working in Rentman 4G, you can manually switch accounts.
Do I have to switch to Rentman 4G?
Not yet. For the foreseeable future, we will keep supporting Rentman 3 and will solve all critical bugs and issues. In the meantime, we are advancing development and keep optimizing Rentman 4G. In due course, we would like all our users to work with Rentman 4G. All Rentman 3 users will be notified of this ahead of time.
Is Rentman 4G safe and stable enough to work in?
Yes. Rentman 4G has been online since January 2017, and 3 out of 4 users is currently already using Rentman 4G. Since its release, bugs have been solved and more new functionalities have been added. All data traffic is secure, and is automatically backed up to prevent any loss of data.
Will my pricing plan change when switching to Rentman 4G?
We have changed our subscription packages for Rentman 4G with more flexible pricing options for different business needs. The new pricing levels are similar to Rentman 3. Our Rentman Pro version includes a lot of new functionalities and therefore has a slightly higher price level for larger companies. Trying out Rentman 4G
Can I try Rentman 4G before switching?
Yes. Because Rentman 4G is in many ways a different system, we urge all our users to do proper testing before switching. This way, you can get accustomed to its new functionalities and interface.
How can I try Rentman 4G?
After you’ve copied your Rentman 3 database to Rentman 4G, you can log in to Rentman 4G with the same username and password. Read our article about copying your database for more information.
Can I test Rentman 4G with my own projects?
Yes. You need to copy your Rentman 3 database to Rentman 4G, before you can log in to Rentman 4G. This allows you to work with your own projects, equipment, contacts, tasks, user roles, appointments, and personal settings. Any changes to the data in Rentman 4G will not affect your Rentman 3 data.
Is my Rentman 3 data affected when I change it during the Rentman 4G trial?
No. Your Rentman 3 and Rentman 4G databases are not connected (or synchronized), and exist separately. This means that changes in Rentman 4G will not affect your Rentman 3 database, or the other way around.
Can I use my custom templates in Rentman 4G?
When you switch, your custom Rentman 3 templates are also copied to Rentman 4G. However, your templates will probably not function correctly anymore. We therefore strongly recommend that you remake your custom templates in Rentman 4G. To help you with this, Rentman 4G lets you choose from premade system templates in many languages, that you can duplicate and edit if desired. You can also create a new template from scratch, using one the new and improved template editor.
Switching to Rentman 4G
Do I keep my data when activating Rentman 4G?
Yes. After you have tried and tested Rentman 4G, you have two options for the database. You can either choose to keep the data you worked with in Rentman 4G, or (re)copy your current Rentman 3 database.
Can I start using Rentman 4G immediately after activation?
The majority of your data will be transferred automatically to Rentman 3. However, there are some settings you need to (re)configure, such as your custom templates and presets. Please read our articles on the Rentman 4G Support Center about setting up and using Rentman 4G.
