In the world of equipment management, flexibility and precision are key. One powerful feature that enhances these qualities is the ability to create nested combinations. This means you can place a combination within another combination, offering unparalleled customization and efficiency in planning and preparing your equipment.

Understanding Nested Combinations

Nested combinations allow you to structure your equipment combinations in layers, making your planning more modular and adaptable. Whether you are dealing with complex projects that require specific combination settings or managing inventory with dynamic needs, nested combinations can streamline your processes.

There are three primary ways to implement nested combinations:

Adding a Combination as Default Content in the Equipment Module

When you add a combination as 'Default content' in the category Equipment module, it becomes a permanent part of your equipment item. This means every time you plan to use this equipment, the nested combination will automatically be included.

This method is ideal for standard setups that are repeatedly used across different projects.

Example Use Case: If you have a camera setup that always requires a specific lens and microphone, you can nest these items as default content. Every time you plan to use this camera, the lens and microphone will be automatically included in the planning process.

Adding a Combination Inside Another Combination Directly in the Projects Module

Sometimes, specific projects require unique configurations. In such cases, you can directly add a combination inside another combination within the table_chart Projects module. This nested combination will only apply to the specific project you are planning.

Example Use Case: For a particular video shoot, you might need an additional lighting setup nested within your camera equipment. By adding this combination directly in the Projects module, you ensure that this configuration is tailored only for this project, without altering the default setup for future projects.

Adding a Combination in the Warehouse Module During Prepping

When prepping your equipment in the warehouse  Warehouse module, you can add a combination as 'Actual content'. This approach allows you to customize your setup for a specific combination and project, ensuring that the equipment is prepped precisely as needed.

Example Use Case: If a last-minute requirement arises for additional batteries for a specific shoot, you can add these batteries as a nested combination while prepping the equipment. This ensures that all necessary items are included for that particular project without affecting other equipment setups.

While nested combinations offer great flexibility, it's essential to be aware of the current limitation: only up to 10 nested levels are allowed.

By understanding and utilizing the three methods of adding nested combinations, you can optimize your setups to meet the specific needs of any project. Always keep the 10-level limitation in mind to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
