Apply discounts for a contact

In Rentman, you can apply discounts for one specific contact only. You can give them discounts for:

  • crew costs 
  • transport costs
  • subhire costs
  • total price of a project

Additionally, you can apply a discount for a group of equipment items. You do this by creating and then configuring a discount group in Rentman. The percentage of this discount is configured separately for each contact.

In this article, we explain how to apply discounts and how to configure discount groups.

Apply discounts

  1. Go to the Contacts module.
  2. Double-click a contact to edit their details.
  3. Go to the Payment tab of your contact.
  4. Fill in the discount percentage for Crew discount, Transport discount, Total price discount and/or Subhire discount (supplier).
    Changes to discounts for a contact will not be applied to existing projects where your contact is selected as the client. If you want to refresh/update the discounts for a project, simply remove the client and re-add them to the project. Rentman will then ask you if you want to apply the (updated) discounts you've configured for this contact.
  5. Save your changes.

When you select this contact as client for a project, Rentman will ask you if you want to apply the discounts you've configured for this contact.

Configure your discount groups

You can also apply a discount for a group of equipment items. The percentage of this discount is configured separately for each contact.

  1. Go to the Configuration module > Financial > Discount groups.
  2. Click Add to add a new discount group.
  3. Enter a name, and Save your changes.

  4. Go to the Equipment module
  5. Double-click the item that you want to add to a discount group.
  6. In the Data tab, scroll down and find the Discount group field.
  7. Choose the discount group that this item should be added to.
  8. Save your changes.

  9. Go to the Contacts module.
  10. Double-click your contact, and go to the Payment tab.
  11. In the Discount groups section, fill in the discount percentage for each of the discount groups that you've created.
    If you want to apply your changes to an existing project, you must follow the steps below:
  12. Go to the Projects module, and open your project.
  13. Go to the Equipment tab of your project.
  14. Select Select.png all items, and click the More actions button More.PNG
  15. Choose Update data (equipment)
    This will update the discount values for all items you've added to a discount group.
