In Rentman, number series are used to keep track of different elements. The current number of each series is the latest element created of that series.

You can edit your number series by going to Configuration > Settings > Number series. Note: You can only insert letters in the Financial documents series. Equipment codes including letters can instead be imported, or manually added to your equipment list.

You can change the numbers of:

  • Equipment Items
  • Reminders
  • Subrental jobs
  • Project number
  • Contact number
  • QR-codes
  • repairs

  • Packing slips
  • Subrental slips
  • Repair order

Financial documents

  • Invoices
  • Quotations
  • Contracts

Multiple financial documents series

You can set up multiple number series for your financial documents. This is useful if you want to distinguish between your sales and rental invoices, or if you use Rentman to manage different companies and you want to differentiate their documents.

To add a new number series:

  1. Click on the +
  2. Type in the name of the series and add a number.
It is also possible to use letters and symbols in your number series to make them more recognizable. In this case, make sure the number starts with a letter/symbol and ends with a numerical digit.
  3. Click Save on the top-right corner of the screen.

Customize your document numbers

Customizing your document numbers can help you differentiate between different files.

For example, you can add 2019 or 19 before document numbers to easily identify this year's documents or use a specific number to distinguish between different document types (quotations, invoices, etc.).

Follow these steps to change your document numbers:

  1. Go to Configuration > Number series.
  2. Change the numbers of the document types that you want to modify.

Example: Start the number with 2019 as shown below.

The next document created, will have the number 2019010001.
