In this article we explain everything about the dashboard Dashboard module, for example how you customize it to your own needs, and how it can contribute to keeping overview and insights into your projects, planning, financials and more.

The personalized dashboard gives you access to a visual and customizable overview of what needs to be done, and what is coming up. Every widget is clickable and guides you directly to the module view that contains more detailed information.

In order to see, edit or add dashboard widgets, you need to have the corresponding edit rights and permissions for the dashboard Dashboard module assigned to your user role.

Widget Options

Per default, the following widgets are included in your dashboard: "Invitations", "Time registration", "My Schedule" and "Tasks".  However, you can customize this dashboard to be in line with your wishes. You can configure your dashboard with the following widgets:

My Schedule

The calendar widget can give you a quick insight into your planning for today and tomorrow. It shows your planned appointments and scheduled functions.

The task widget gives you an overview of all upcoming and open tasks. In this way, you will have a good overview of what needs to be done, and which tasks are already overdue. In the widget you can configure which task you want to show:

  • Public tasks
  • Personal tasks
  • Both

Read here how to change these settings.

Open invoices

The open invoices widget gives you direct insight into the outstanding invoices amount, which is divided into three categories: "Open", "Overdue" and "To be invoiced".

  • "Open invoices": This includes all unpaid invoices that were created until today and haven't expired.
  • "Overdue invoices": This includes all invoices that were created up until today, from which the deadline has expired and aren't paid yet.
  • "To be invoiced": This includes all projects which haven't received an invoice (or only received a partial invoice) yet, with an invoice moment of today or in the past.

Revenue (bar chart)

Quoting and Invoicing

The revenue widget (bar chart) provides an overview of your revenue per status (confirmed, pending, or canceled), per month. This widget gives you clear insight into your past, current and future income and by this a clear overview over how business is going over a longer period of time.

In the settings of this widget, you can select which relative time period you would like to show. You can choose a period from a maximum of 15 months in the past to 15 months in the future. Furthermore, you can include or excluded project statuses (confirmed, pending, canceled) by clicking on their names.

Revenue (pie chart)

Quoting and Invoicing

The revenue widget (pie chart) shows you your revenue overview per status of your project, per month. This chart is designed to give you clear insight into the distribution of your income and excepted income, and can be of help when a rough indication of the revenue situation is required.

Furthermore, the widget also automatically compares the revenue per status of the project with last months' revenue, and calculates the difference in percentages. In this way you can compare your results with that of a previous time period. This can give you an indication on which direction your business is currently going. Read here how the revenue per month is calculated when projects are overlapping into different months.

When we look at the revenue chart, it calculates the revenue based on the complete month, and compares it with the complete month before.

How is the revenue calculated when projects are overlapping into different months?

A project is broken up into single days and depending on the period linear calculated in line with the number of days. This means, that when a project is overlapping into different months, the revenue is split, and allocated to the specific month, based on the amount of days that take place in that specific month.

Example: Project Y has a plan period from 30-07-2020 until 02-08-2020 (4 days total) with a total revenue of 400,- EU.
The revenue per day will be 100,- EU (400,- EU / 4 days).
This means that for July the revenue of this project will be 200,- EU.
