Print a packing slip for each packing list, so the printed document matches what is on screen.
Booking equipment does not change - everything below works exactly as it always has. Only how you print the paperwork for a packing list is new.
Note: Currently in limited release. Available once your account is on version 551.
What is a packing list?
A packing list is the equipment tied to one pickup or return date of a (sub)project.
A (sub)project with several pickup or return dates has one packing list per equipment time, and the crew only sees the equipment tied to that date. For a closer look at how packing lists work, please check out this article.
What's new
- Packing lists get their own document type, named Packing slip, alongside your existing document types such as Project document and Invoice.
- A default Packing slip template is included. Change it to suit a project's needs, the same as any other template.
- Your existing document templates are not affected and keep working exactly as they are.
The two "Packing slip" templates
Because this feature adds a new document type, two templates can be named "Packing slip" at the same time: your existing template, and the new one.
Your existing template |
The new template |
|
|---|---|---|
| Document type | Project document | Packing slip |
| Prints | One packing slip for the whole project | One packing slip for a single packing list |
Both templates can be named "Packing slip" in the Template Library. Always check the Type column, not just the name, before you add a template.
Add the new packing slip template to your workspace
- Go to the 'Configuration' module > Document templates.
- Click Template Library.
- Find the template named Packing slip that shows Packing slip in the Type column, not Project document.
- Select the checkbox next to that template.
- Click Add.
Note: If you add the template with document type Project document by mistake, and then try to print a packing slip for a packing list, Rentman tells you that no template has been added from the library, even though a template named "Packing slip" is listed under Document templates.
Repeat the steps above and pick the template with document type Packing slip instead.
