One of the three ways to solve your equipment shortages in a project is with alternatives.

You can set alternatives in the category Equipment module for the items in your inventory or search for an alternative in the Shortages hub when trying to solve your equipment shortages.

Solve a shortage with alternatives

1. In the Equipment tab of your project, select an item that has a shortage.
2. Click on more_vert More actions and choose Solve shortage.
3. Under the Alternatives section, choose an existing alternative or search for one in your database.
   Rentman Tip: Hover over the equipment name to view its picture.
4. Click on Next step
5. Decide how many of the items will be replaced with the alternative.
6. Choose whether to retain the original equipment price in the project or update it to the alternative's price.
7. Click on Replace
8. Save

Solve a shortage with alternatives via 'Details' pane

1. In the Equipment tab of your project, select an item that has a shortage.
2. Click on Details pane and scroll down to view Alternatives.
3. Under the Alternatives section, choose an existing alternative and click on add.
4. Decide whether to replace all items or only the shortages with the alternative.
5. Choose whether to retain the original equipment price in the project or update it to the alternative's price.
6. Click Save
