Booking out combinations in the warehouse - Preferred Flow (Web and App)

In this article, we demonstrate the preferred warehouse workflow with the new equipment types feature utilising a serialized physical combination.

Scenario

In this example we have created and planned two serialized physical combination called Lamps Flight case. Within that combination, we have set the default content to include four lamps.

Make sure one of the serialized combination's actual content is complete while leaving the other serialized combination incomplete, scanning only 2/4 lamps making it incomplete. If you have any questions about actual content, take a look at this article

We plan this physical combination in the project and proceed to the warehouse module. Find the project and select it.

Serialized Physical Combination in the Warehouse Module

After opening the project in the warehouse, we see the two flight cases planned. You can always check the contents of the combinations by selecting the chevron symbol if needed.

At this point, the flight cases assigned in the warehouse do not have assigned serial numbers to them so we don't know if the contents are correct.

For serialized combinations, it is necessary to select which serial number combination by scanning or manually selecting the serial number. Lets book Flight case 01 to the prepped status!

As you can see, the flight case 01 is now booked onto the prepped status with the selected/scanned serial number shown (01). We did not receive any visible warnings or error messages so that's a good sign!

We recommend always booking the entire combination from confirmed to prepped status first. Feel free to edit the combination in the prepped status. It is not recommended to individually scan each content from confirmed to prepped without scanning the combination itself.

Double check the contents by selecting the chevron icon again. Now, lets book the second flight case!

As you can see, when you try to scan or manually select flight case 02, it will show that the flight case as incomplete with only 2 lamps inside. This is because the actual contents of the flight case do not align with what was planned for in the project. The actual content for flight case 02 is only 2/4 lamps but in the project, it is planned to have all 4 in its contents.
We can fix this by moving the lamps into the combination's actual content and completing the combination.

Note that the flight case on the confirmed status is now 0/2.

Completing a combination

To make the flight case 02 complete, we must move the remaining 2 lamps from confirmed status into flight case 02. Here's how you can do that:

  1. Break the combination's seal to enable contents
  2. Click on the pencil icon besides the seal button
  3. After clicking on the pencil icon, you will notice that the flight case is now highlighted in purple
  4. Notice the + icon besides the quantity amount of lamps in the confirmed status
  5. Select the + icon to move the remaining 2 lamps into the combination
  6. Select the - icon to remove any content within your combination (Optional)
  7. Once finished, select X or scan the combination QR code again to seal your combination

Feel free to book any additional equipment into this container. Note that because the additional equipment wasn't part of the combination's default content, the combination status will be set to extra if returned this way.

The combination should be now complete. If we need to progress this project, and book the flight cases from “prepped” status to “on location” we can simply scan the serialized combination's QR codes. Since both combinations are complete and sealed, they will be booked together with their actual contents.

Complete! Both sealed and completed combinations are now in the Prepped status. Feel free to move them to your desired status. Once it's ready to be returned back to the warehouse, you can follow this return process.

FAQ

Help! My flight cases are still incomplete and I booked everything!
This can happen if contents are booked onto the target status before booking the flight case itself. After booking the empty flight cases to the same target status as the content, because the flight case is empty and does not match actual content, the status will be incomplete. Only when you manually add the contents back into the appropriate flight case, will the combination status change.
