In the Equipment tab of your project, you will find your equipment list, including items, physical and virtual combinations that you can easily plan for your project. The search function allows you to quickly locate items within your database.

Sometimes, however, you may need to plan for an item that is not part of your equipment database - meaning it is not available in your warehouse or storage locations. In these cases, you can add temporary equipment to your project.

What is temporary equipment?

Temporary equipment refers to an item you need for a specific project but do not have in your inventory. To start booking the project, you will need to subrent it first from an external party.

Since the item is only needed for a single project, it won’t be added to your permanent equipment database, helping to keep it clean and organized.

Adding temporary equipment is useful for custom items required for a single project, equipment that you need to subrent temporarily without cluttering your inventory.

How to add temporary equipment to your project

Follow these steps to add temporary equipment to your project:

1. Navigate to the Equipment tab of a project.
2. Click on the More options more_vert button at the top of the planning grid and select 'Add temporary equipment'
3. Configure the temporary equipment options.
4. Click Save
5. Select the equipment group it belongs to.

Once the temporary equipment is added, it will appear as a shortage in the system. This happens because the item is not in your stock, and Rentman will flag it as unavailable.

How to subrent the item

To resolve the shortage, you can subrent the temporary equipment from an external party. External Subrenting is a practical solution when equipment isn’t available in your warehouse or storage locations. To subrent the item:

• Use Rentman to subrent the item from a third-party supplier or vendor.

Using external subrentals, you can solve equipment shortages and ensure project completion without permanently adding items to your inventory.
