Help translating Rentman in your language

Rentman is officially translated into seven languages (Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Russian, and Spanish). We use an automatic machine translator for all the other languages.

Sometimes automatic translations are not perfect, but you can help to correct them. Read this article to know how to become part of our Translation group and to get more information about the translation software.

Become a translator

From now on, we will make use of an external translation system named Crowdin. This system is designed for translations and works faster than our internal translation module. Old translations will be remembered, and the new system is easy to use. If you want to be part of our Translation group, please reach out to our Support Team.

Note: To be able to give you access as soon as possible, please provide us with the following information: the email address you want to use to access to Crowdin and the language you want to help us translate.

How to create a Crowdin account

After you have requested access to be part of our translation group, you will receive an email from Crowdin. It might end up in your spam, so don’t forget to check your spam folder.

After you indeed received the email, you need to take the following steps to activate your account. If you don’t see an email from Crowdin in your inbox or spam folder, please reach out to our Support Team.

  1. Open the email you received from Crowdin.
  2. Click on Schermafbeelding_2021-03-31_om_17.22.33.png in the email.
  3. Create an account by filling in your email address, preferred username, and password.

Projects and different type of translations

After creating your account, you are able to log in to Crowdin. The first thing you see is the workspace overview with the projects you have access to.

You don't have to worry about seeing the right projects, we'll take care of all that for you!

To start with translating, you first need to open the translation project by clicking on the project in the workspace overview. After this you will see a screen that looks something like this:

There are two types of translations that can be done.

    1. You can translate a new text that hasn’t been translated yet. In Crowdin this is called a translation.
    2. The second type is making a correction to an already translated text. This can be recognized as a correction in Crowdin.

Rentman tip: Correction can be compared to the dictionary as you were used to in our previous translation module.

8. Select Schermafbeelding_2021-04-01_om_11.22.22.png  to close the translation editor

Important note: In the middle top area you can see that there is information visible about the context of the translation. This context field contains a long string of characters, we refer to this as a hash. This hash is used by the system to identify the text. The context is editable, but it must not be altered. Otherwise, the translation will be lost and cannot be synced back to Rentman.
