Rentman is phasing out the old way of logging in with username or unverified email addresses and moving everyone to a global profile (a verified email address and password). If you have run into a problem while switching, this article covers the most common issues and how to fix them.

Logging in and getting started
Why cannot I use my username or unverified email address anymore?
Username or unverified email address login is being switched off across Rentman. Everyone is moving to a global profile, which logs in with a verified email address. This is what allows Rentman to offer stronger security, such as single sign-on. Once you switch, you log in at rentmanapp.com/login with your email and password.
I do not know which email address to use
Use an email address that is yours alone and that you will keep access to long-term; ideally the same one your company already has on file for you. If you are not sure what is on file, ask your workspace administrator to check, or pick the address you want to use going forward and enter that.
I am not sure whether I already have a global profile
You may already be set up. See How do I know if I or one of my crew members have a global profile? to check before you start.
Email problems
The verification email never arrived
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Confirm you typed the address correctly. A small typo is the most common cause.
- Wait a few minutes and check again; email can be delayed.
- If it still has not arrived, start the switch again to send a fresh email.
The link in my email has expired
For security, the link is only valid for 24 hours. If yours has expired, simply start the switch again from the login screen or the in-app banner to receive a new link.
Rentman says my email is already in use
This usually means the email address already belongs to a global profile — often your own, from another workspace.
- If it is your existing profile, follow the email you receive to link this workspace to that profile. Afterwards, one login gives you access to both.
- If the address belongs to someone else, you will need to use a different email address of your own.
I entered the wrong email address
This can be corrected. See I connected the wrong email address (global profile) to my crew member. How can I fix this?.
Mobile app
How do I switch from the mobile app?
When you log in to the app with your old credentials, a browser window opens with the same migration steps. Complete them there, and you will stay logged in to the app afterwards. There is no need to reinstall. You will also see a banner in the app sidebar with a button to start the switch.
I switched in the browser but the app still shows the old login
Close the app fully and reopen it, then log in with your new email address and password. If it still does not recognize your global profile, log out of the app and back in.
After the deadline
I missed the deadline and I am locked out
After the final cutoff, accounts that did not switch have their login information removed and are set to inactive, so you cannot log in on your own. To get back in, contact your workspace administrator. They can reactivate your account and make sure your email address is correct, after which you can switch and log in with your global profile. Your original email address is preserved, so your details are not lost.
I am a workspace administrator and I am locked out
If you logged in without a verified email address, did not switch in time, and no other administrator can help, please contact Rentman support.
I was suddenly logged out
As part of this process, everyone who still does not have a verified email address is logged out so they go through the switch. If this happens to you, log back in and complete the steps shown, you will not be able to skip them at this point.
Other common questions
My calendar sync stopped working
If you set up a two-way calendar (CalDAV) sync using your username, that connection needs to be set up again after switching, using your new global profile login. Learn how to do it here.
Can I switch back to my username?
No. The switch to a global profile is permanent, which is why it is best to use an email address you will keep long-term.
Will I lose any of my data?
No. Switching only changes how you log in. Your planning, projects, and tasks stay exactly as they are.
The reminder banner will not go away
During the grace period the banner can be dismissed, but it returns on refresh until you complete the switch. Once the required period begins, the banner cannot be dismissed at all. Completing the switch is the only way to remove it.
