Important Update: Please note that containers have been converted to physical combinations with the rollout of new equipment types. You can find your (former) containers in the 'category Equipment' module -> filter_list Filter by 'Converted containers' folder Folder or in the 'warehouse Warehouse' module -> 'Combinations'.
The Combinations sub-module allows you to know the content of a physical combination without needing to open it, speed up the warehouse’s processes by booking a combination of items packaged together with one click/scan, as well as track serial numbers, so you know exactly where every piece of equipment is or was.
.
Sub-module Overview
To access the 'Combinations' sub-module, go to the Warehouse module and follow the steps from the video below:
Filter by folders
You can easily filter your view by folders. You can find your (former) containers by clicking on filter_list Filter by 'Converted containers' folder Folder
View 'Content status'
After setting up your combinations, simply scan their QR code to see what's inside and if the combination is complete. You no longer have to check your equipment manually while packing.
Instead, you can utilize
content statuses to indicate the completeness of each serial number in your physical combination. This is especially useful when dealing with transport cases containing many adapters, small items, and accessories.
How it works
Speed up the warehouse’s processes by booking a combination of items packaged together with one click/scan
When packing your equipment before a project, scan the QR code of your combination to change its content from status to status. There is no need to scan items individually, so packing processes are much quicker, there is less room for mistakes and fewer chances of damaging expensive equipment.
Track serial numbers
After you’ve set up and sealed your combinations, Rentman will automatically track the contents of your combinations during transport and even between projects.
Example Imagine you’re at an event with 6 semi-trailer trucks of gear, and you need to find a small adapter. Previously, you would need to manually check every transport case to find it.
With combinations, this can easily be done in 3 steps.
- In the Rentman Mobile App, open the all_inbox Combinations sub-module.
- Enter the name of the item you are searching for.
- In the search results, you will see which Combination has the item and its 'Content status'.
Pack loose items in your combinations
Pack a combination of loose items (like cables) in a transport case and track its contents throughout a project, so you’re always aware of which items are in which transport case during the build-up of an event. Then, print a label with the contents of the transport case and attach it, to make it clear for everyone.
Please note: If you don't have Equipment editing rights, you are only able to do the following:
- Complete actual content;
- Edit the content of the serial number.
If you need to perform additional actions, such as editing or opening the serial number view, or editing equipment items, you will need to enable Equipment editing rights in the settings Configuration module > User roles.

-
Go to the Warehouse module → Book return → Select the project → Start to book.
- Slide the combination to the left > Details.

- Scan the QR code of your combination.
Edit a QR code of the combination on your desktop:

On your desktop:

-
Select the combination you need to print QR codes for > More actions … > Create combination slip.

FAQs
Why did the Containers sub-module change to Combinations? What’s the difference between combinations and containers?
Containers have now become part of the equipment database. They are physical combinations with flexible content inside. You can now plan these combinations, making them even more flexible in terms of their content!
I see new combinations being created from containers. I am also creating new combinations and filling in the actual content in the Warehouse module. These combinations don’t have any default content. Can I copy the actual content after I fill it in to default content?
Yes, please check out
this article to see how to do it.
Can you put virtual & physical combinations inside another combination?
Yes, you can. Nested combinations allow you to structure your equipment combinations in layers, making your planning more modular and adaptable. Whether you are dealing with complex projects that require specific combination settings or managing inventory with dynamic needs, nested combinations can streamline your processes.
Why should I seal my combinations?
After sealing a combination in Rentman, its content cannot be changed any more until you unseal it. Therefore, your crew will know that the content remains the same as when it was sealed. The next time you want to use the combination, simply scan the QR code to see what's inside.
Which document template should I use for my Container's QR code?
You can find a default template to use as Combinations slip in the
Configuration >
Document templates >
Combination slip or in the
Configuration >
Document templates >
Template library >
Container label. You can also
customize your template to make it more applicable to your processes.
